Montgomery Rotary Club Welcomes New Member

The Montgomery Rotary Club welcomed Mr. Joseph “Joe” Buenvenida as a new member. Joe owns and operates Kumon Math and Reading Center in Oswego. He resides with his wife, Angeli and their two sons in Woodridge.
The Montgomery Rotary Club meets on the first and third Thursday mornings from 7:00 to 8:00am. Morning meetings are held at Riverview Diner, Montgomery Road and River Street, Montgomery. In addition, the group also meets for an evening social & networking hour on the fourth Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30pm. The evening meeting is held at the Montgomery Village Hall.

The Montgomery Rotary Club welcomed Mr. Robert “Rob” Bailey as a new member. Rob is employed as a personal banker with BMO Harris in Oswego. In addition, Rob is a Navy Veteran and serves as the Junior Vice Commander of the Montgomery VFW Memorial Post 7452. Rob is the father of two children and resides in Montgomery.

Montgomery Rotary Club Recognizes Paul Harris Fellows:

The Montgomery Rotary Club recognized two members as Paul Harris Fellows. Mr. Duane Tanner and Mr. Matthew Walker both received a pin and a certificate acknowledging their generosity. Mr. Tanner is retired from the financial services industry and resides in Montgomery with his wife, Lisa. Mr. Walker is an attorney and partner at the law firm O’Connor and Nakos located in Chicago. He resides in Montgomery with his wife, Kim.

The Montgomery Rotary Club welcomed their first new member of 2016. Jacqueline “Jacquie” Purcell was inducted at the club’s first regular meeting of the year. Jacquie works for the Kendall County Coroner’s Office as the Deputy Coroner. She resides in Yorkville with her husband John.

Montgomery Rotary Club Welcomes New Members in December

The Montgomery Rotary Club welcomed two new members in December. Dr. Kelly Lally and Mr. Jeffrey Mitchell were inducted to membership at the club’s last regular meeting of 2015. Dr. Lally is a chiropractor who works for the Chiropractic Place in Oswego. Mitchell works for Thrivent Services, a not-for-profit offering financial services. He resides in Glen Ellyn with his wife, Sabrina.

Montgomery Rotary Club Moves Morning Meeting Location

The Rotary Club of Montgomery has grown in the four months since chartering. The Club will be changing meeting locations for their morning meetings beginning on Thursday, November 19th. The group meets on the first and third Thursday mornings from 7:00 to 8:00am. Meetings will now be held at the Montgomery Village Hall, 200 North River Street, Montgomery.

Montgomery Rotary Club Sponsors Author Visit

The Montgomery Rotary Club sponsored a visit to Krug Elementary by author Stacey Glorioso. Glorioso is the author of the children’s book, Joshua’s Dragon. The author attended a school assembly to talk about her book and inspire the children to become more self and socially aware, as well as increase disability awareness. Noah Little, the school’s principal and charter member of Montgomery’s Rotary said, “I am very thankful that the Rotary Club of Montgomery was willing to sponsor an author visit for Krug. It is great to have an author visit and speak to our students about a book they wrote. Stacey and I discussed the message of her book. She summed it up as ‘We all have a dragon inside us, but we have to have the strength and ability to overcome it.’ That is the message I want our students to hear and to come away with.”

The Montgomery Rotary Club welcomed two new members in October. At their first regular meeting, Jessica Boettner was inducted to membership. Boettner works for Thrivent Services, a not-for-profit offering financial services. She resides in Montgomery with her husband, Brian and their daughter.

Montgomery Rotary Club to Participate in River Run

The Montgomery Rotary Club will be volunteering and running in this year’s annual River Run. The River Run will take place on Saturday, October 3rd along the Fox River in downtown Montgomery. Club members will be serving as course marshals, helping with registrations, and assisting wherever else they are needed. In addition, several members will be running to raise funds for the club. Runners include: Mera Johnson, Bryan Johnson, Matt Walker, and Jeff Zoephel. Donations supporting the club can be made on the club website: www.rotaryclubmontgomeryil.org

Montgomery Rotary Club Elects Foundation Chairman

The Rotary Club of Montgomery has completed the process of establishing their club’s foundation. Mr. Scott Neal has been working with other clubs and Rotary District officials to complete all the necessary steps to officially launch the foundation. At a recent club meeting, the membership elected Mr. Neal to serve as the Chairman of the Foundation for a three year term. Mr. Neal is President of Padgett Business Services, which provides accounting and tax services. He resides in Montgomery with his wife, Phyllis.

Montgomery Rotary Club Receives Charter

The Rotary Club of Montgomery has been notified by Rotary International of the club’s admission into the organization. Charter members will be officially welcomed by area clubs and district officials at a charter event in July. In response to receiving the news of their charter, Club Co-Founder, Mrs. Mera Johnson stated “I'm over the moon and humbled. (It’s) time to make a difference.” Village Trustee, Theresa Sperling, who is also a Co-Founder of the club, stated “It has been a lot of work, but I am enjoying every minute of it. We have some wonderful people who are ready to get involved and help.”

Montgomery Rotary Club Moves Morning Meeting Location

The newly formed Rotary Club of Montgomery will be changing meeting locations for their morning meetings beginning on Thursday, June 18th. The group meets on the first and third Thursday mornings from 7:00 to 8:00am. Meetings will now be held at the new Riverview Diner located at the corner of River and Montgomery Roads in Montgomery.

The group will also continue to meet on the fourth Thursday in the evening from 6:30 to 7:30pm. These meetings are held at the Montgomery Village Hall, 200 North River Street, Montgomery.

Montgomery Rotary Club Winter Gear Drive for Children

Winter mittens, gloves, hats, scarves and other “gently” used winter gear drive. The event will continue now through October. There are 4 drop off locations, including two at Village Hall and one at the Riverview Diner. This should allow everyone a location to drop off their donations. Please support this event
