Montgomery Charters New Rotary Club
21 Charter Members
On June 17, 2015 the Rotary Club of Montgomery, IL, USA was officially chartered and admitted to membership in Rotary International.
Montgomery had no service organization to address the many instances of need in the community. The new Rotary Club will unite the community by focusing on relevant projects that make a difference in the community, region and beyond. Montgomery has grown from a population of 5,000 to a population of over 18,000 in the last 10 years. While there are many taxing bodies that cover Montgomery none of them truly serve only Montgomery, other than the Village itself. There is not a strong sense of community similar to that generated in other communities that have their own library or school district, the new Rotary Club is hoping to fill that void, create a sense of community and also do fundraisers and events that the Village of Montgomery currently does but is not equipped to fully do.
Establishing a successful club now will leave a tremendous legacy for Montgomery. The club meets on the first and third Thursday of the month at the new Riverview Diner at 7:00am.
