Rotary Club Forming in Montgomery
A small group of residents has been working to bring a Rotary Club to Montgomery over the last several months. The Village currently does not have a service organization that truly serves only Montgomery, with the exception of the Village itself. These residents are hopeful that a service club, such as Rotary, will bring the community together by mainly focusing on projects for the Village and serving the residents of Montgomery.
Rotary International is a service organization started in Chicago in 1905 that continues today with approximately 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide. Rotary values service above self. It is a professional, ethical, diverse organization that allows members to make a difference in their own communities and as well as the world. It transcends race, religion, and culture by uniting its members through service.
The group will meet weekly on Thursday mornings from 7:00 to 8:00am at the Montgomery Village Hall. A short menu breakfast will be available for a nominal cost. Weekly meetings will often have a brief presentation featuring local projects or organizations and discussion of club business. An evening meeting will be held in lieu of the morning meeting each month. Members will have the opportunity to network at these evening gatherings.
The first meeting will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at the Montgomery Village Hall, 200 North River Street, Montgomery starting at 7:00am. The group will continue to meet and explore potential service projects on Thursday mornings until the club can officially charter.
Interested members of the public are invited to attend the initial meeting on April 16th and subsequent meetings to learn more about Rotary and the future club in Montgomery. If you will attend, please respond to Mera Johnson at 630-800-9980 or email@example.com.
