Montgomery Rotary Club Receives Charter


            The Rotary Club of Montgomery has been notified by Rotary International of the club’s admission into the organization.  Charter members will be officially welcomed by area clubs and district officials at a charter event in July.  In response to receiving the news of their charter, Club Co-Founder, Mrs. Mera Johnson stated “I'm over the moon and humbled. (It’s) time to make a difference.”  Village Trustee, Theresa Sperling, who is also a Co-Founder of the club, stated “It has been a lot of work, but I am enjoying every minute of it. We have some wonderful people who are ready to get involved and help.”


            Johnson and Sperling are pleased to announce the following charter members:  Mr. Lucas Albright, Mr. Thomas Betsinger, Mr. Jason Bragg, Dr. Deslyn Browne, Mrs. Jeanette Caul, Ms. Carolyn Fairbanks, Mrs. Tina Hardersen, Mr. Bryan Johnson, Mr. Steve Jungermann, Mr. Noah Little, Ms. Marilyn Michelini, Mr. Scott Neal, Mr. Duane Tanner, Ms. Judy Van Tieghem, Mr. Matthew Walker, Mr. Peter Wallers, Mr. Joseph Yen, Mr. Richard Young, and Mr. Jeff Zoephel.


            The group meets on the first and third Thursday mornings from 7:00 to 8:00am. Morning meetings are held at the new Riverview Diner located at the corner of River and Montgomery Roads in Montgomery.  In addition, the group also meets for an evening social & networking hour on the fourth Thursday from 6:30 to 7:30pm. The evening meetings are held at the Montgomery Village Hall, 200 North River Street, Montgomery. 


            Rotary International is a service organization started in Chicago in 1905 that continues today with approximately 1.2 million Rotarians worldwide.  Rotary values service above self.  It is a professional, ethical, diverse organization that allows members to make a difference in their own communities and as well as the world.  It transcends race, religion, and culture by uniting its members through service.
